I currently have a Toshiba Chromebook 2 which has a Full HD screen. My work have upgraded their Citrix which means I can no longer login to work because I get a "encryption level not supported" type message.

This means I need something new, Windows 10 based.

I am looking for the cheapest (new) laptop that satisfies the following:

- Full HD screen (or greater)
- ~13.3" (not 15 or 11 inch)
- Very quiet or silent in operation
- Less than 1.3KG weight

Well, firstly if that's the only reason you need a new laptop...my advise would be to chat to your IT department at work!

I investigated this myself at the company i work for deployment and depending on the kind of traffic being sent over the connection, a higher than default encryption level is not needed and means your HTML5 enabled receiver wont work.

In my opinion, considering the nature of Citrix products meaning users can work on lower end/cheaper hardware like your (awesome) chromebook, i find it very rare that super sensitive (and "needs to be complient") data is tunnelled over XenApps . But i'm lucky, as i AM the IT department at work, so it was an easy decision to make for me.

I love my samsung chromebook and working with it in XenApp is great. Your Toshiba Chromebook is a great model and it would be a shame if you no longer could use it for what you perhaps intended on using it for in the first place.

With all that said (and i know you probably tried contacting your IT dept haha) you should perhaps expand your requirements for a laptop a tad more so people can help you choose.
for example
- Are you going to use this oppurtunity to purchase something that will expand your usability from just using Citrix, to other tasks?
- Whats your budget?

right now i'm also in the market for a new laptop, but i'm going to give it until the end of September before i make a choice. Currently though i'm very tempted by the Dell XPS 13, if thats any help at all

I work for a multinational company where said IT department aren't even in the country and Ill be honest, I think given the nature of my work, they DO need the best security they can get.

Although it sounds silly, I am very literally looking for the cheapest laptop that matches the criteria I listed above...I'm not all that fussed by everything else.

I thought you would say that....that's fair enough, everyone has their requirements

I find it really tough offering advise like this the Lenovo ThinkPad 13 is pretty good buy, but im a bit of a Lenovo fanboy when it comes to budget laptops because the keyboard and trackpads are often such good quality.

With your configuration, after an upgrade of the screen too 1920x1080 its roughly 400 pounds....Any cheaper and in my opinion you start to lose build quality and truly limit your capabilities. (this is why i suck at offering advise)

It is also roughly 100 grams heavier than your 1.3KG limit.

Perhaps some other people can offer up better advise!
