Personally I found EVE boring, there's no solid goals as such, as it's just pure open gameplay; some prefer this, but I thought it felt a bit pointless. Also the travelling between systems is a bit too time-consuming, it encourages AFK'ness, especially with the auto-pilot.
I think there's still 14 day trials for it, no restrictions from what I can tell (apart from the 2 weeks).
