So as per title I'm looking for these two items.

I currently have a Razer Blackwidow 2013 Stealth Keyboard (as it was going cheap locally) and I'd like a nice headset (preferably 7.1 or 5.1) and a nice mouse.

Fps orientated as that is ALL I play.

Been googling and it seems that people use any and all mice to play FPS with, all the quake guys seem to use everything... I'd like a few prog buttons so in games like crysis etc I can have quick grenade/visor action but I don't want MMO style buttons.

Thanks guys, oh and for budget say £150 -£200 max. Would a soundcard be a massive help or not? I'm quite open, however as a casual gamer I'd rather spend less than more unless it's going to make a massive difference.

Hey, I should have really made a forum account earlier, when I started working here as there is a lot of questions about peripherals, if your wanting a headset and mice combo, for FPS gaming, the best I can suggest would be the;

Headset
Logitech G35 Gaming USB Headset PC 7.1Ch Surround Sound : SP-070-LG

I've had this headset for years, used them at tournements and they've had a fair few knocks and bangs at airports and the sound quality is still top notch, I'd say these are a mirror of the Sennheiser 350 Onwards, and the price range of the Sennheiser headsets is double of this headset, because of the brand (Yes I've used both headsets and have compared with my own ears :p)

Mouse
Razer DeathAdder Respawn 3500 DPI Black Edition Gaming Mouse : KB-069-RA

Razer Deathadder has been the most consistent seller, ye It has had its fair few revisions to keep profits going but what a lot of mice companies do is stop production of their best selling mice *cough* 3.0 / 518 but I feel that Razer have only improved their sensor with these new revisions, they've still kept to "what works" instead of throwing 80000DPI sensor on it. They've kept it subtle as FPS games the most you'd use is 450dpi to maintain 1:1 input ratio, shouldn't really be going above 800dpi for FPS games if your wanting accuracy and mouse responsiveness.

These are my personal opinions from using these when I played professionally at tournaments, and I've been through my fair share of mice/keyboards/Headsets/Mousepads.

Hope this helps.

Awesome! Thanks very much.

Worth getting the newer version? I know I wouldn't use the higher DPI, but since I already have a razer keyboard I got cheaply might be easy to use synapse 2.0 for both? Or is the older one better?
YOUR BASKET
1 x BenQ XL2411T 24" TRUE 144Hz 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red £249.95
1 x Razer DeathAdder 2013 6400 DPI Essential Ergonomic Gaming Mouse £64.99
1 x Razer DeathAdder Respawn 3500 DPI Black Edition Gaming Mouse £54.98
Total : £383.42 (includes shipping : £11.25).

Ignore the monitor haha. Thought I'd get a nice quick monitor while I was at it.

Also no ETA on the Headphones. Says one in stock... but then No ETA and I can't buy it lol

I'd suggest the Respawn Black Edition, as I'm not a DPI enthusiast I have this one and as your main focus is First Person Shooter games, I'd say the Respawn, sometimes the higher the DPI on a mouse, the less quality a sensor can be as for FPS games you want to be around 450dpi-800dpi

Ok thanks very much for the advice.

Any alternative to the headphones since they're out of stock? Or an idea on the ETA since I see you work there haha.

Thanks for all your help

Okay, I've spoke to the sales team, If you give them a call on 0871 200 5052 with your order

they'll push the Logitech headset through for you and added to your order, sorry for the inconvenience, although the headset is reserved for you, so don't worry about not getting it.

Awesome will give them a call tomorrow when I can get time off work :)

OK just seen futher reviews that make me want the logitech's instead!

So many decisions. I hate how every product seems to have ONE bad review at least. My personality makes me think "Oh well it must be terrible", when I know I'll probably love it.

Got my basket saved. Just need to make up my mind on headset and I'll get my order going.

Love the look of the super expensive Razer ones, but can't justify 160 odd quid for a headset. Almost enough to get me a second 7950 lol...

I think on headsets, you have to look for sound quality for the price, the Logitech G35 is below £100 and the sound quality is next to non, especially from an FPS gaming point of view, the Razer headsets are good, but I feel the premium price you pay is for the features and the look rather than sound quality.

I feel the Logitech G35 for your needs would suit you down to the ground, there on par with the Sennheiser headsets without the price tag. I tried to keep my suggestion around your budget. ;)

And reviews, there is always the bad and good ones, as when it comes down to it every product you use is personal preference. and reviews are based on that persons experience.

Thanks very much for the reply. Placing my order now :) Assume I can place the whole order over the phone?

Edit: Should add that I'm taking your advice and going for the logitech's haha. But going to get the newer razer since it's prettier and I'm a sucker for prettyness.

BOOM... ordered.

Went with the Logitech G35's and this little lot.

YOUR BASKET
1 x BenQ XL2411T 24" TRUE 144Hz 3D Vision 2.0 Widescreen LED Monitor - Black/Red £249.95
1 x Razer DeathAdder 2013 6400 DPI Essential Ergonomic Gaming Mouse £64.99
1 x Razer Destructor 2 Expert Gaming Surface £34.99
Total : £488.60 (includes shipping : £115.56).

Had the same sales guy on the phone who helped me out with my last order and upgraded a few things for me when they were out of stock which was cool. Although would sound super creepy if I was like "I remember your voice" :D

Looking forward to it arriving and I'll let you know how it all goes. I think I'll give my desk a tidy before I start setting things up as it's a massive mess right now.

Thanks for all the advice and for holding the g35's for me.

Oh and before anyone say's anything, yes that is £115 shipping and I live on the Moon.

Praying to god nothing is broken. Last time I had a problem with a Zalman mouse that didn't work, OCUK asked me to send it back... 11.99 mouse or something like that. Would cost me double to ship so I didn't bother. Really sad when I literally can't RMA things unless they're worth it.

Luckily the keyboard that had bits missing they just sent me another without asking for it back, so I'd still say OCUK service was awesome. I just live too far away :D

Build quality of all the products you've ordered as long as the courier takes care of them you'll have no problems! which as we use DPD shouldn't have any problems.

I'm glad the advise I've gave you has helped, I've been reviewing peripherals for sponsors for sometime, so now I'm not labeled by sponsorships and can have my own opinion, I can be honest about the product and point people in the right direction. Maybe some point in the future, talk with the Big dogs at OcUK and review peripherals.

Happy Fragging

To get to me it will be DHL not DPD, but you guys pack really well so it should be fine I hope. My zalman mouse was fine, just the left click wasn't working. No squashed box or anything, just didn't work. Couldn't RMA it so just left it.

Well actually it was some odd thing where the right button was fine, but to get a left click I had to click both at the same time. Could never figure out how to change it, or find anything on google. If I clicked the left it would lock the cursor on screen until I let go, but wouldn't actually click on anything. Weird problem.

Either way once this lot arrives, I won't have that problem haha. Thanks for the advice, and now I have no excuse for bad playing :(

Expensive shipping!

I love the Deathadder 2013, have that BenQ monitor and use a Steelseries Qck+ XL. Might move to one of the new Razer Goliathus mats though

Yup £115 in shipping and it didn't even get here! lol.

It was sent back and is now being resent with a new tracking number. Super annoying to pay that much and take so long, could have driven over, picked it up and drove back lol. However I know it's DHL's fault not OCUK so I'm not blaming them.

Although that's even more annoying as I have no one to complain to haha :(
