which switch do you guys recommend?

I am having a look at 2 of these switches

Netgear GSM 7224 and a Dell PowerConnect 5324

have you guys any views on these, want to buy one asap so your views are very welcome. I want one of these because i heard if i put 4 network gigabyte network cards in my server and connect them to a good managed switch it will speed up anyone accessing my server

Accessing your server from where?
To have 4 GigE network cards and team them, you need network cards that support it and the switch will have to do it too.

the server is in the sme room as the clients but the network is getting slower as more and more people use it.

Can anyone recommend me network cards and a good managed switch, i was thinking of a Dell PowerConnect 5324

Have you actually checked that the connection between the server and switch is bottlenecking clients? Unless its a decent server I'd say its more likely to be disks than a Gbit link

the server is running 6 500Gb Sata Disks and running on windows 2003 server. How do i check if the switch and server are bottlenecking?

I was told by a friends dad who works for BT that adding a good managed switch and a couple of extra network connections to the server that it would speed things up.

But do you guys think it's the hard drives? How would i go about fixing this, maybe installing the disks in a raid array???

Well when you're ragging the server what's the throughput look like on the network card? If it's not hitting 100% then it's not a network issue.

i will have a look and get back to you, but if its not that then do you think raid will work or something else??
