Hi Guys, i was wondering if you could give me some infomation on what ISP i should change to.
I am Currently with Tiscali, and not happy with it at all, havent been for a long time, but the contract runs out very soon and wanted some advice what what to go for.
I am looking for something reliable, good for Online gaming which i do a lot of and also good download speeds, 15Mb or more.
Also i want to have 2 computers at home connected to the internet at the same time.
Im looking to get ADSL2 as i am still on ADSL and also would like some advice on whats needed to use ADSL2 if anything, as im abit of a newbie with it, lol

Thanks :)

First thing to do is check what services you have available at your exchange using a site like this.

If Be/o2 or Sky/Easynet have a presence at your exchange find out your line stats and use a calculator like this to get an idea of what kind of speeds you could expect.

How many machines you have connected has nothing to do with your choice of ISP. Just buy an ADSL router, or some ISPs will provide one (though the provided ones are most often rubbish).

I would chip in here and recommend o2 broadband.

I used to be with AOHell and switched last month.

Brilliant service so far. The changeover could not have been any more efficient and smooth. Speeds are massively improved now. I'm very happy and would highly recommend o2 to anyone thinking about a new ISP.

ignore Virgin with there traffic shaping evilness,

if it's in your area Be* or O2 is the one to go for, fast speeds and reliable service for me

If you've already got Satellite TV then Sky assuming you can get their LLU service in your exchange.

Otherwise o2/Be.

How come 02s so popular it has a 4TB download limit each month ?

Maybe its not good for us pron/HD leechers ;)
It doesn't have a 4TB download limit. I posted hearsay about what their idea of "excessive network usage" involves. You're misquoting me ;)

4TB is an absolute shed load anyway, far in excess of what any sane person, even someone sharing their connection could do regularly, and excessive by anyone's standards.

From what I have been told by o2 themselves, you would have to be downloading a serious amount of data every month for you to "pop up" on o2's FUP radar, so to speak. ;)
