So I have been using a Deathadder for the last 2 years, it's a nice mouse and feels great, however every Razer mouse I or anyone I know has owned seems to die prematurely. This one has decided to start double clicking every now and again when I single click.

I owned a Logitech G5 years ago and that mouse lasted me around 4 years (it still works other than the mouse wheel which I broke in a fit of rage), so is it worth trying the G9? I did try a Razer Lachesis before settling on the Deathadder, but it was plagued with problems with the laser which I hear is not a problem in the G9.

Anyway please advise me, recommendations are very much welcomed!

I found which mouse to use depends so much on the shape of my hand that it's hard to suggest what might suit you. I'd go along to PC World and handle the mice they have on display there, if one takes your fancy look for it on Google. I got a new Mobile Mouse 4000 for a very good price that way, probably because it's a very bright lime green - but my hand covers most of that when I'm using it! I did find that the dongle didn't work well when it was plugged in the back of the PC under the desk.

Hmm, I will have to check that out, however I just read somewhere that these mice (logitech G series) have mouse acceleration turned on with no way of turning it off?

I have the G400 myself, it's off by default.

khemist, does the G400 have on the fly profile changing (not dpi) ?

sry if this is considered hijacking. im just curious as im looking for a mouse as well

Hey, thanks for the feedback, I am currently expecting a delivery of a G9x on Monday, which will hopefully be a nice mouse to use. I really want to try out another laser mouse and see if this is the one for me, the last laser mouse I had tried was a Razer Lachesis, which I had issues with the laser and inconsistent tracking. I am also hoping that this one will be a nice fit for my claw. :D

I went with the G700, same line as a lot of the chatter in here but with better looks and about twice the buttons.

Sublime mouse!

To be honest I'd just grab another Deathadder. I also have one and fancied a change, have tried the Steelseries Xai and Ikari and neither came close to the comfort of the DA. It also has one of the most reliable sensors going.

Well my deathadder is still just within warranty so I will likely be sending it back for a replacement, which I will either sell or use depending on how much I like the G9x.

Don't get a Razer Lachesis had 2 they die prematurely like you said, it's a shame because when they work they'll the best mouses by far but their build quality seems to be quite poor. I bought another to replace the one i'm using at mo and the laser broke after 30 minutes...

Well I had no problems with the laser dying, just bad tracking, where the cursor would move smoothly, then stop for a very short time before continuing to track. I tried many surfaces without any luck, then googled to find that it was a common problem apparently caused by the rubbish laser that Razer chose to use in their mice.

DON'T GET RAT3 or any other versions.

Well, maybe the other versions have better features like the weight customisations etc. that make it worthwhile

But I have the RAT3 the lowest spec of the lot, the laser is accurate enough, the thing looked strange and interesting, which is why I bought it, but the looks are lame, it gets boring quick, and I would much prefer an ergonomic "fuller" feeling on a normal mouse than this.

Just.got a.G500. Its really awesome. The additional macro buttons and features.are.so useful. You cant go wrong with it mate.
