Hi all.

I currently have a Linksys WAG54G wireless router. We have two laptops and a desktop PC in the house, one laptop uses wireless 24/7, the other uses wireless only when needed and the desktop is wired.
I am really fedup with this Linksys router now. It feels extremely hot and keeps overheating, it can't handle it if I unplug one of the ethernet cables and plug it back in. I need to basically keep pulling the power plug out and back in before it works again.
I did have a wired Netgear router before and it was much nicer. The build quality was better, it didn't overheat and most of all it was 100% reliable - it NEVER disconnected.

I use ADSLMax and sync at the full 8128kbps.

I don't want to spend over £60 and was looking at the Netgear DG834G router, is this any good? If it's as good as my old netgear router than I will certainly go for it!

I moved from Netgear to Lynksys.. the reason was odd behaviour..

I had a DG385 (I think that's correct - 100Mbit hub+11Mbit wireless) + zoom adsl modem. Now I have a WAG300 series, can't fault it as it connects at 54Mbit :D and does adsl.

I've had no problem since. Although our adsl is only v1 at ~2Mbit due to the distance.

You can't go wrong with the DG834 range. I'm using the DG834PN as I need the extended range but the 834G is pretty bulletproof - search this topic for happy users (and ignore people who condemn a whole manufacturer just because they had one old model that didn't work). I have to say I found the Linksys WAG54GS (totally different from the WAG54G - stupid Linksys naming) to be pretty good and only replaced it to get the extra range - it's now looking after my parents WLAN.

I'm very happy with my Speedtouch 585v6 easy to setup and at least for me very reliable and it manages to max out my MAX connection :)

Speedtouch 780WL broadcom chipset and of course dying gasp excellent for maxing out a poor line with stability. To be had for round £40
I have mine stood against the wire divider on a bookcase with a thick rubber band keeping it in place - great voip too

Dying gasp won't do a thing for stability, unless your power supply is up and down like a yoyo.
From the experience I've had with the 585, it crashed if you used wireless and NAT at the same time and the firmware was pretty rotten. The DG834G isn't that bad as long as you don't expect too much of it, and it's cheap.
