Recommend me a new Winamp

I currently use Winamp 2.5e from 3rd october 1999 as i have done forever.

It doesnt play WMA files and has problems with track lengths on some mp3s. I use it with KenwoodTT skin and it loads up instantly every time. The WMA plugin doesnt seem to work and it crashes instead.

Is there a new edition of a winamp (very) lite that will load up fast as 2.5 but allow me to play WMA and other file types whilst using my kenwoodTT skin?

That site is russian or something. Are the version of winamp lite better now? I tried one a couple of years ago and it was crap so i went back to 2.5e

Winamp is pretty bloated these days. I too remember how great 2.5 was.

I'd recommend Foobar2000 if you want a lightweight music player. I use it on my NC10 and it runs very quickly.

untick everything you don't need.. like library, agent etc

then it's just like winamp 2.x

and use the classic skin

you can change the site language to english , look for the icon at the top and click the EN

Jet audio basic is 25mb. My winamp folder is 2.5mb, the install will probably be under 2mb. Jet audio doesnt seem that basic really

Just get the new winamp, turn agent off. who cares if it's slightly bloated. Gone are the days of 200mhz cpu with 8mb of ram.
Works straight out the box and works so well.

Do you have a 100mb hard drive?

Indeed - you can disable a lot of Winamp's unwanted goodies.

Use one of those older software sites for an early version of Winamp 5. You get a solid little player then.

Yep. Just take a little more interest in the install process and you can stop a lot of stuff you won't need or want being installed. Either that or just check out the plugins section of the settings menu and remove stuff that way.

Winamp is still the best, the shoutcast station browser alone is what make sit for me, quickly tune into fav stations

Exactly. Looks up quickly for me. I don't find it bloated at all.
