Recommend me a PCI Wireless Network Card for use with a Linksys WRT54GL Please!

Hi Guys,

My current nextwork/internet setup is Virgin Broadband connected to a Linksys WRT54GL which shares the internet to 4 computers using up all four of the RJ45 ports on the router. Now I'm thinking of freeing up one of the ports for use with a download and storage box I want to build for the loft, but that will mean one of the 4 computers connected will need to go wireless.

Now I've no experience what so ever with Wireless networks so I could use some advice on what PCI based Wireless network card to buy for use with the Linksys WRT54GL. Something cheap, reliable and simple to setup would be good. I've heard that Linksys cards are problematic but I've no idea if that's true. Any advice would be great, especially from WRT54GL owners!

I'm using a Netgear WPN311 with a Netgear WPNT834 router. The router is functional, but Netgear appear to have dropped support without resolving several issues.

The WRT54GL seems to be the router of the moment, so I plan to buy one by next weekend. I'll know then how well the WPN311 works with it.

I'm using two Linksys WMP54G Wireless-G PCI Adapters with the same router as you have and they all work excellent

They can be bought for around £15 however there seems to be different variants of the same card in terms of PCB size.
