The mid range seems very very confusing for me choosing a phone. Samsung alone (not that I particularly like Samsung) have like 6 offerings in the £25 to £35 per month range from A02 to A22 to A71 which I think I've worked out is last year's model.

Basically I'm after a not too big (6 to 6.4") phone with a headphone jack. I don't really do mobile gaming anymore so I don't need it to be super powerful. I will use it mostly for browsing and steaming Netflix etc, and taking pictures so a 'decent camera' is wanted like everyone does.

I really don't care about things like fingerprint scanners and a screen that wraps around the edge and stuff.

I'll be coming from a Pixel 4 so I don't want worse specs/performance in terms of general usability and camera.

This would be on a contract unless I can get something good for £200 or so.

Xiaomi Note 10 Pro and X3 Pro could be a decent shout but they are hefty boys with bigger screens than you would like.

£25 to £35 per month

I would advise against that and go sim-only. I was fed up of paying mobile operators 2x the handset cost, when really the handset can be bought outright and then stick a sim into it for £10/month.

As for phone models, I had the A70 which was fairly decent except that the camera was rubbish in low light areas. The A71 as you discovered is the next model up with an improved camera and it retails for £299. This is over your budget but I would still rather buy that outright for £299 + £120 (12 x £10) being locked in with sim-only contract for 1 year, rather than paying £25 x 24 for what is essentially a £600 A71 handset and being locked into a 2-year contract.
