ive currently got a epson r300 printer and i think its on the way out. can anyone
recommend me a printer?
i doesnt have to print onto cd/dvds as i dont use that function any more.
just something cheap maybe another epson or a canon?
i wont be printing out pics so the quality doesnt have to be amazing

I went from epson to canon pixma range some time ago, canon better in every department, speed, quality of photographics prints, printer options, cost of carts both original & non-original could go on.......deffo go for canon & as above IP4500 is a good start.

just been looking at the Canon Pixma iP4500 seems like a good printer!, just wondering if the ink is cheap for it?

ive just been looking and it seems you have to take the "chip" out of the originals and put them in the compatables to get them working.

There was a survey carried out recently (sorry I cannot find it at the moment). that said the price was similar to others, but you got twice as much ink than the Epsoms for the same price. Also it has an extra black tank for normal printing.

You dont need to.

You buy a 1 off Kit (cost more 1st time) it contains an adapter than holds all the Aftermarker Carts, so after than you only buy the Aftermarket Carts.

I have a MP600R, I only last week needed to change 1 Cart (bigger black one of the 2 blacks) and I went for Canon as Im into quality not saving a few £.

Epson R360 or R265 with refillable ink cartridges (Not CISS) = very cheap excellent printing.
The Canon's are excellent too but can't get anywhere near the refillables of Epson.

epson d92 for an uber cheap range.
But i must admit my current print jobs have been looking rather black/dark recently but Ive probally been forgetting to change an option when i was using higher quality paper so its over inking stuff =S

that's only needed as canon have patented their chips, so no manufacturer of compatables can copy the chip.
Also be aware if you insert the chip round the wrong way i beleve it can break it then your back to having to get a new cartridge to get the chip once the cartridge is empty

i can get the epson for £50 and canon for £65 both deliveried , thats making my decision harder lol
