Hi Guys, Currently i am running 2 differant power supplys in my file server but i can't help thinking it would make more sense just to use one let alone it would make it more efficiant, Anyone know of a good power supply that will run the spec below but won't cost a lot?

The specs are..

Amd Athlon X2 4400+
2gb (4 x 512mb Corsair XMS DDR500)
DFI LAnparty Motherboard
ATI X800 128mb Graphics Card
XFX Revo Raid 3 CArd with 5 SATA ports
10 Hard disk drives of varying sizes (some IDE, Some SATA)
2 x 75Gb WD Raptor drives
DVDRW
5 x 120mm Fans
2 x 80mm Fans
Printer
Scanner
External USB HDD

IM not sure what wattage im going to need either, please recommend me something.

Thanks

Just had a look at the vx550 it looks pretty good although do you think 550watts is enough the power my system?

Normally with that systme i'd say a definate yes, but i have never seen anyone with that many HDD's...that's like 12?!!

Hmm, that would take some real working out, hang on..

PC Item Watts
Accelerated Graphics Port (AGP) card 20 to 30W
Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) card 5W
small computer system interface (SCSI) PCI card 20 to 25W
floppy disk drive 5W
network interface card 4W
50X CD-ROM drive 10 to 25W
RAM 10W per 128M
5200 RPM Integrated Drive Electronics (IDE) hard disk drive 5 to 11W
7200 RPM IDE hard disk drive 5 to 15W
Motherboard (without CPU or RAM) 20 to 30W
550 MHz Pentium III 30W
733 MHz Pentium III 23.5W
300 MHz Celeron 18W
600 MHz Athlon 45W

That's about as recent as my nan, but still you're looking at 10w+ per drive and i bet those raptors take at least 15w each.

So to be safe, 150w for the Hard-drives extra maybe. Though the rest of your sped wouldn't take too much power really, at a shot in the dark probably 300-400w would be used TOPS. 550w would do it i reckon, but better safe than sorry, you don't wnana go upgrading a PSU all the time. 620w would do you safe.

My sig :D

Erm, Antec's have had good reviews, Corsair also do a 620w.

I went for the coolermaster as it's a good one, quiet, modular, average price.

Enermax were a bit expensive when i looked at them, but are among the best i've heard. No issues with mine yet.
