getting rid of my 420w tagan because theres too many unused wires and it doesnt have a 120mm fan on the botton which i need.

so basicly i need a modular psu with a 120mm on the bottom which can easily run

Opteron @ 3.0ghz
x1800xt pe
Seagate sata drive
maxtor ide
2 x optical drives
x-fi extreme music
5 x 120mm ambers

i need something to run these safely but i dont want overkill as the funds are restricted to about £75. torn between a tagan, enermax liberty and a hiper

cheers

can recommend the Tagan 530W - very quiet, and rails are solid.
Also the U15 model i think has the easy connector so you only need to connect the wires you need.

kinda leaning towards the hiper as all the cables are braided and you get 580w for cheaper than the tagan

can anyone recommend this from experience?

a mate i know has the hiper 580 - he has 2 gripes with it, 1 you only get 1 floppy cable (which his dfi takes up) and its quite loud compared to his old aerocool

imo the libertys are worth the extra, allough, im a big fan of the ocz modstreams, dont think ocuk stock them anymore

My Enermax Liberty 620w is really quiet and rock solid. ;)

As for Tagen all I can say is I used their RMA service 3 times within a year. :D Nuff said.

Well I am seriously disappointed in Tagan.

I have a weird PC shutdown problem in games and sometimes in windows where the machine will just turn off as if the power has been pulled.

I have replaced every item bar psu/cpu to try and fix it and no joy. So, apart from a nagging concern regarding the slim possibility its the cpu, I have concluded the psu is faulty.

Last thursday I emailed their [email protected] email and since have basically email-spammed them on all addresses - the best response I have got was from their sales department saying they will forward my email to the tech department.

It's over a week later and I have had absolutely nothing in response. This is for a work (and gaming) machine as well so you can understand my frustration.

It's not good that you needed to use their RMA service 3 times in a year - it helps to justify my psu theory.

tagan seem to make excellent PSUs, until they go wrong. :( shame as i keep looking at them as well...

ill stick with enermax i think. their modular ones look well specced. :)

don't get me wrong - the psu looks lovely and is uber-quiet.

I don't know 100% it's a psu problem, but having replaced everything but the psu/cpu it can only be one of two things.

I would still be a tagan fan if they had emailed me back within 4 hours and arranged a rma swap and send - however over a week later i had to buy another psu in the hopes of fixing my problem due to time pressure.

I will still pursue the tagan psu rma but now i'll have two psus and i only needed the one :(

Got a Hiper, Plugged it in and it Blew up on me within 1 second of switching to power switch on on the back!!!

Sparks and Smoke came from it... Posted this on another forum and someone who works at Hiper or something said he has saw this before and the problem could have been small metal fragments or a loose screw shorting it out :(

Still seems hiper is good, but sort of ****** me off that it died like that...
