My HX850+ is starting to show its age now, I applied an overclock on my GPU and after about 20 mins the PC switched off. Removing the overclock stopped this happening. PSU is probably 8-10 years old now so I think its time to get a replacement.

What would you suggest for 5900x & 6900xt? Happy to go to about £200 for a decent unit.

I have been looking at the following but unsure if a 1kw might be a better solution - or it might just be the age of my current one which is making me think 1kw would be better.

I would look up to see what 850w units handle the Transient Spikes the 3080/90 and the 6900xt (AFAIK) cause to peak at 1000w

AFAIK the Corsair will be fine.

I must admit, I haven't looked into the power spikes on the 6900xt but that would explain a lot. I know I can monitor the PSU usage using the Corsair units, which was why I considered it. However, the price is mostly branding.

And who actual manufactures it, I know not all Corsairs are Seasonic as it depends on the series.

I have a AX1600i which is about as good as you can get and going by market now it was not overkill when I got it 2nd hand (but new/sealed for a good price).

The RMX series is great, but don't write off the 2018 model. The 2021 release is significantly more expensive, and the 2018 is still being sold as a slightly cheaper alternative. It's still a truly brilliant supply.

I thought Superflower supplied corsair?

They're my go to PSU supplier, if it was actually avalible I'd go for the Leadex III or Leadex Titanium.

Not to my knowledge, I know Superflower used to cover a number of EVGA units. I think Great Wall are Corsair's TX-M OEM, but that's the only exception I'm aware of.

CWT make some fantastic PSU's regardless.

Thanks for the input. I'd prefer to buy sooner rather than later, especially if a small overclock on my GPU is causing my PSU to cut out. It's been a good solid unit for 8 years, probably time to be replaced now.

That SuperFlower is needlessly expensive, and you will not save enough money over a Gold rated unit to justify the extra cost. The Leadex III Gold 850W for example is £102 cheaper. The Silverstone psu is SFX so not much good if you have an ATX case.

Thanks Lee. I haven't purchased yet as I'd come to the same conclusion. Kinda hoping stock picks up soon as well.
