I need a new game pad for gaming on my pc.

I have a few PS2 dualshock2 controllers that I can use if anyone can recommend a GOOD QUALITY PS2 controller to USB 2.0 adapter. I originally bought one which i sent back as the fitting was loose and the controller kept cutting out (think it was joy-tech). The guy who sold me it said they were all like that!

Since then i have been using a thrustmaster dual trigger force gamepad ps2/pc 3.2 - I have had nothing but trouble with it.
So, can anyone recommend a reliable/good quality game pad or PS2 controller to USB 2.0 adapter that I won't end up smashing to bits? Thanks

Logitech Rumblepad 2. They do wired and cordless versions... I have the cordless and it is very good. Battery life is good too. A little heavy maybe but feels solid.

Does it have 4 shoulder buttons. I had a quick look on google and couldn't see. 4 would be preferable.

I haven't tried the Logitech Rumblepad 2, so can't voice my opinion on that. I am using the Microsoft Xbox360 Controller ("for Windows", ie with drivers for Windows), and have to say it is by far the best I've used (personal comparison to the Saitek P2500 and Logitech Rumblepad (1)).

Unfortunately it looks like OcUK aren't stocking the Xbox360 controller, so you'd have to look elsewhere.

Just google 'USB Dual PS2 to PC Convertor XP'. Its available for £6.99 from a well known online retailer. Its a shame not to use your PS2 pad. I've got one and works great.

nowhere near as good as a 360pad though. I've got that adapter and a ps2 pad, a thrustmaster dual power III and i used the rumblepad2 for a while.

The ps2 pad's have the most problems with games. The dual power III is slightly too pad and plasticy, the rumblepadII is smaller, but feels just as cheap. The xb360 pad is perfect in every way except that it has a wire. Which doesnt bother me anyhow:)

Are the 360 pads really that damn good on the PC then? I was considering getting a couple purely for games on the PC, but wasn't sure if they were actually the best out there considering.

best i've used mate. If you've used a 360 pad on the xbox, then you already know how it looks and feels. It just works so well on the pc. With two sticks and two analogue triggers it's more easily adapted to various games than other pads:)

In my opinion: Absolutely.

As james.miller says, it has a wire, and far as I know there is no wireless version for the PC, which may or may not be a factor in your decision. I prefer wired anyway.

I have to agree. I bought one of the 360 pads and its really great for PC games - managed to set it up flawlessly with Pro Evolution Soccer and Psychonaughts.

If you get the Xbox360 version instread of the Windows XP version it will be slightly cheaper too - the drivers can be downloaded from windows update.

another vote for the xbox 360 pad here its great.

anyone know if its possible to get the wireless ones working if you have a bluetooth dongle ?

Yup, two buttons and two triggers. :)

It's one of the best pads I've ever used, definitely, that's why I was hoping it would be good for the PC. Will definitely look into getting a couple now. Shame you can't use the wirelesss ones though.

How do the wireless ones connect?

If it's the 2.4ghz wireless thingy then surely those with a wireless mouse/keyboard setup might be able to sync with it?
