Recommend me a racing game?

I have an xbox 360 which I barely ever use, I have it for pgr3 because I've always found racing games significantnly better on consoles.

However this is madness, £300 worth of kit just for an occasional game when I have a pc well capable enough of playing a decent game (E6700 and currently 7900gtx sli although that will be 7950gx2/crossfire soon, plus a 2405fpw).

So what I want is a pgr3 style(ish) game ie pick up and play with an element of challenge but not uber difficult, not online.

I also want something I can play with a pad (360 wired pad??) NOT a steering wheel.

Any suggestions?
 
Not being funny but this should be a sticky or something. Or (given the amount of petrolheads in ocuk) maybe a racing forum?

Number of people repeating this lately is getting weird.
 
lol, fair point..

I wouldn't even mind something difficult as long as you could get into it, my red line issue is gears.. I've never changed gears manually on a game and I don't intend to start now.
 
Even something like GTR2 can be used with Auto gears and in Arcade mode too so a pad should be fine,

Allthough it would be criminal not to use sim mode, the options are there and it is what they are for, and thats what games are good for, playing them how you want to. :)
 
I have never played a racing game on the PC but I would opt for...

1) Juiced - £5

2) Flatout 2 - £15
