Recommend me a racing game

Hi guys

I'm after a realistic racing game to play on my lunch at work

I love forza 4 for the Xbox, don't play it much but want something similar but for the pc. I used to play shift and enjoyed that so might have a look at shift 2. Any recommendations?

I wouldn't recommend Dirt 3. More time spent in menu screens, loading screens and panning shots of cars and scenery than actually driving. Some the stages only last 80 seconds.

If you got a good wheel then GTR2 then get online, pilsbude is the place, keep you going for years, I have a G25 with some hacked settings for GTR makes the steering very accurate, have all the new games still think GTR2 rules the roost.

We've tried DIRT 3, enjoyed the cat and mouse mode for a while but not everyone got on with the game.
We played SHIFT for a good few months, maybe more. I'd like to try SHIFT 2 but it doesn't support LAN

It's nearly impossible to find a new game these days that supports LAN.

Race 07 and the associated expansions support LAN play and although they may start to look a bit dated, they are still great games to play against mates.

For realism your options are: Live for Speed, NetKarPro, iRacing, rFactor2. Each have their merits and demerits.
LFS is free and has truly fantastic physics modelling - a good starting point I think.
