Basic stats and facts...

My ISP is virgin media. I will be sticking the base VM hub into modem mode and then using a router for better wireless coverage. The stock VM is terrible.

I would like to spend no more than £100

I will have a few computers/laptops the odd tablet and mobile connected to the router using lan or wireless connections. I can't think of many occasions when more than 5 devices will connect to the router.

Id like the router to have QOS built in or an equivalent. So when I'm gaming i can make sure the mrs isnt stealing all the bandwidth when shes watching Iplayer.. .

Ive narrowed it down to this router

Is there anything better out there i should be looking at etc. Is this router any good??? Been years since i last purchased a router but my trusty old linksys has finally died.

Selling a modem/router in the MM if your interested pop in....
Its got awesome wireless performance, and QOS as well as modem if needed though works best with short lines.

Brilliant im at work at the moment. Ill have a look at your thread tonight/tomorrow.

Sorry what do you mean by works well with short lines?

If your going to use it as a all in one, its better to have a short line than a long line, as in your master socket to the exchange line...
though if your going to use it as a QOS/Router mode only, its wireless performance is out of this world.

though test its modem and run it as a all in one if you don't get the performance from its internal modem, disable it and run it as router only with just WIRELESS/QOS/FIREWALL/NAT/DHCP only ;)

The C5 is a nice router, I have the C7 (was much cheaper 6 months ago) and rate it very highly.

Another option if you can find one is the Trendnet TEW-813DRU. I use one as a second access point and got that for less than £50.
