As title said, can you recommend me a reliable silent PS for use with 2x 7900 GTX's on watercooling

Please dont recommend a Seasonic, i really cba with the hassel :<

I was looking at:
Tagan TG700-U25 700W ATX2.0 Dual Engine Silent SLi Compliant Silent PSU (CA-014-TG)

thanks in advance

I know this doesnt really help; i bought a seaonic s12 500w ! I then silenced my system and that is now the loudest component noise wise!

What PSU has a fan which can adjust itself to run in silence. I cant believe people say the s12 is silent because i can now clearly hear it over everything else!!!

Im def looking for an SLi modular supply now, around 500W as i dont really need any more!

Sorry to Hi-Jack

Seasonon 600W if you are prepared to put up with the cables (i.e. non modular). Solid, well built, silent and very reliable which is the main thing.

Seasonic are the quietest you will get without going passive.

What I have found aswell, the S12 is the quietest non Phantom PSU I have ever used.

You probably wont find a decent PSU with manual fan control, they have them automatic so they dont fail under load, which is what you do not want happening.

ahem.

What about Liberty, slight purr hardly worth moaning about the "noise" and it's modular. A SLI/gaming rig with multiple hard drives will be louder then the Liberty fan.

Silverstone Zues 750W extreamly quiet, my coolermaster fans are louder than my psu :P

What hassle?
Take a look at the cables that it has and count the ones you won't use. For me thats 1 cable. You only have to wire it up once. You have to listen to it forever.

Thermaltake tried that, they fry if you wind the fan down too low. Lovely and quiet until it goes bang.

.
I have had 3, all of them suffered from the cold boot bug.
Reason being i got a older revision of the PSU, neither Seasonic or OCuk will refund/replace a psu because of incompatabilities so i effectively have a PSU which is useless lying in a cupboard.
Because of that i will never use Sea Sonic again tbh
This is the responce from Sea Sonic

Dear Sir...
Thanks for choosing Seasonic products.
This problem between a Seasonic power supply and a DFI m/b is well documented. The root cause of the problem is mainly due to the M/B not meeting Intel specification.
We would recommend that you contact DFI and ask them to upgrade your m/b with a newer revision where the 5VSB is within Intel specification.
The Seasonic power supply has many built in safety functions which asks the M/B for signal verifications and if the verification is not correct, then the PSU will not turn on in order to protect itself and the other components in the system.
Thank you for your e-mail

There is nothing wrong with the motherboard as it works fine with other PSU's, in short a Sea Sonic is definitely NOT compatible with a Lanparty Ultra-D. I have already spent a month persuing this, i really cba with wasting my time on it anymore i would rather just get a new PSU and be done with it

whata bout Fortron FX-700 or OCZ 700W GameXStream ?

Hmm not good. But as they say, you should get onto dfi about it. Unfortunately i think its a case of 6 of one hald a dozen of the other and dfi will probably blame seasonic but you could try if you haven't already.

Take a look at SPCRs 'Power supply fundamentals and recomendations', particualrly the 'Efficient PSUs that don't start' section and the 'recomended PSUs' section.

Take a look through their psu section and see what they say about the enermax, antec etc. I would also recomend you take a look at Nexus psus as their fans have a reputation for being the quietest case fans on the market. Iirc they don't use exactly the same fans for their psus but i think they were still pretty good.

Aye DFi did exactly that, but seeing as the mobo works with another PSU i think the fault lies with Seasonic.

Anyhow back on topic, thanks for all the advice ill look into it :)

Many S12 owners complain about the large inside vents because heat exits form them filtering back into the case instead of out - a common issue with some 120mm fan only psus that don't have such an efficient design inside to draw heat through the rear and not let some escape into the case!

Certainlyy was the case for my Hiper 530watt psu but not anymore on this Enermax Liberty 500watt psu!
