We are interested in getting a sound bar, to make up for the mediocre sound from our tv. I have not done too much research into it. I presume you dont have to spend much to see a significant improvement over the tv audio? We are probably not looking to spend a great deal, could you get something ok for around £100-150?

2.0 > soundbar

if you have space for speakers

people buy soundbars not because their tv speakers are crap they buy them because they don't have space for speakers.

take a look at avforums classifieds section i got 2 x ysp 1400's off there for £150 and £160 delivered. they retailed for £350+ when new.

anything brand new will be mediocre, yes a lot better than the tv but your better off second hand you will get something brilliant for the money.

I got the SAMSUNG HW-J450/EN for £150 a while back, can still be had at this price. I'm using a samsung tv (es8000) and it connects wirelessly, sub is "wireless" (just a power cable).

Works fine, few issues is it turns on with squelchy voices, turn it off and on again to fix this. I think its down to using it wirelessly. Has bluetooth as well so i connect my pc or phone to it for spotify if I can't be bothered to turn ps4 on.

Has a remote which does everything, and an android app which again can do everything.

Sounds (other than the squelchy) is alright, little bit crackly at high volume (again, think its down to wireless connection) but the bass has a good punch to it and I live in a flat so don't want anything crazy. (I was tempted to buy some logitech z5500's again but I'm being considerate)

Only reason i have it wirelessly connected is for ease of use, it auto turns on/off with my tv and with this setup ps4 audio goes through hdmi and then to the soundbar wirelessly and auto switches.

It also looks quite nice, i've hidden the sub away but it has a nice glossy side (fingerprint /dust hell) and is quite compact. The actual bar has touch buttons, a small lcd panel that dims, tells you source / volume etc and the silver mesh/detail on the edges is quite nice and sets off my setup well.
