As title, I am after a good socket set as I am soon to be leaving home, and can't pinch Dad's anymore.

It must have Imperial (for the midget) and Metric Sockets and prefrably different size ratches, if it has 1/2" / 3/4" and 1/4" then all the better for getting in those tight spots.

Any recommendations?

halfords pro kit is good for the money (£100 or so will get you what you're after).

Although eurocarparts have sealey ones cheap at the moment.

I just want somthing that will last really. I have been through 2 ratchets in the last couple of years. One was a halfords, although not the pro model as they were out of stock.

So can you just take them back in and they swap it over? or do you have to send it off?

How easy to get them swapped is it? They arn't like "oh there is a mark here you must have knocked it and that's what caused the failure".

Thanks for the info btw.

Another vote for Halfords Pro.. I've broke a ring ratchet spanner and they replaced in there and then.

The dev guy in work use a mixture of Facom/Snapon but have Halfords pro as there 'own' stuff..

Teng Tools make fantastic stuff. It is the opinion of my mechanic friends that they are the best in the world.

I use a 25 year old draper set myself. Ratchet is far better than any of the other ones we have
