Ok I have seen the wireless printer servers for around £30, I was hoping there is a cheaper way? Is there no way I can just get a USB to ethernet adapter and plug it directly into my switch?

Any printer can be networkable, on the host PC just share that printer, then on other machines search your LAN, right click and I think "install printer drivers" you can then print. But the host PC has to be on.

The last time I looked into printers with RJ45 connector (network printers) they were very expensive.

I dont want to have my computer on each time my wife (downstairs with her laptop) wants to print (that's what we do at the moment).

I was just looking for something a bit cheaper than £30 for a wireless printer server. I don't want to have to leave a linux box on 24/7 to act as one either. I think I have found a suitable alternative and its only £16 so I am gonna order it from the rainforest place :)

£30 will buy a nasty print server, i would look for a secondhand HP175x or if thats too much a Dlink DP300U and plug them straight into your switch.

Far more reliable than cheap junk that needs rebooting every few print jobs.
