hi guys,

i know nothing about routers at all so need a recommendation of a wireless router for use with a BT line.

At present I have a wired router connected to a pc downstairs and to a hub upstairs.. all my upstairs machines are connected to the hub.

I am looking into getting a laptop so id prefer to have wireless access on it.

What I'm looking therefore is some router that will provide both wireless access and wired access using LAN connections.

Anyone willing to recommend me one? Money isnt an issue.

Kind Regards and thanks in advance
Jonny

I think all wireless routers also have wired connections. I haven't had any problems with my linksys router, but it's not an ADSL one so I don't know what those are like.

Netgear DG834GT recommended

They all have built in modems, so that means No BT software, or modem. You will need a network card in the back of the main pc that will be sharing the internet (wireless) to the other nodes (computers) in which you will need a wireless adaptor for each computer.

This will either be a PCI card which is internal for a pc most laptops come with a built in wifi card or if your laptop needs a PCMCIA card, or just use the USB adaptor.

Any more info just post :P

834G if you are ok with 54Mbit 834GT if you want 108mbit, if you'd prefer something more faster then one of the newer MIMO Netgears could be more up your street.

thanks guys for advice - never knew such a thing as a wireless access point existed.. this is exactly what i need!

If I go for one that supports 108mb will this work ok with a 54mb receiver?

Thanks again for help
