Hey everyone, I recently got a Linksys E1000 Router and put the excellent DD-WRT firmware on it.

Now I need an ADSL modem to rig up for my Sky broadband. Its not easy finding information on standalone ADSL modems without the router part. Most products are ADSL modem/routers combined.

Been looking at the Draytek Vigor 120 ADSL Modem.

Any suggestions or recommendations?

Many Thanks! :)

After a quick bit of research, it seems that sagem router with the Sky firmware doesn't make it possible.

In terms of a replacement, anything will suffice, you could probably pick up a cheap netgear DGxxx, install dgteam and set it to bridged mode and could save you a couple of quid.

The Vigor 120 is a good bit of kit - we've used loads of them with firewalls to handle the PPPoA / PPPoE bridging.

Good to hear, I had read mixed reviews about the modem dropping the connection whilst others had said its a good solid modem. Cheers for reply.

There was a firmware update for it which helped on that front but IIRC the ones we are buying come with the latest (something like 3.4.4)

There is an easier way than this

Basically just go to a URL on your net gear 834 and change the drop down to modem then you have a pure adsl modem, used this on my 834n and then set ppoe on the router - works very nicely

I've got a Draytek Vigor 120. It's damn solid, but... I'm on BeThere/O2 and it doesn't get as fast a sync speed as my ISP supplied combined modem/router.
