Right, I've had a D-link 300T for a long while now, and it's awful. Keeps dropping the connection randomly, and won't bring it back up.

What I need therefore is something that's 100% reliable, and is just an ADSL ethernet modem. I don't need a router, or any firewalling or vpn connectivity or anything like that, but I do need it to be able to not die all the time.

I'm off to a different country for 6 months, and effectively I need it to serve the internet properly without ever being rebooted. Is such a thing possible? Does a suitable modem exist?

Thanks

Decided to invest in a cisco 837. Bit of a price leap from what I was expecting to pay, but given that I need to learn more about cisco stuff, it seemed sensible. Damn good router as well.

It'll have a pretty good resale value I would have thought. Besides, couldn't get an 877 within my budget, so I'll hang onto the 837 for a while and see what happens.

Well, if you risk the D-link, be warned that mine drops the wan connection randomly, and so does my friends. And they weren't bought close toghether (in time) so it's not as if it's a faulty hardware batch....
