Hey guys, I just recently started playing Star Wars Battlefront 2. Basically its the 1st FPS that i've played and i seem to be hooked on the online play :p
What would be the best FPS out there? preferably something that plays like SWBF2 (obviously the star wars theme doesnt need to be there), has online play and also has great graphics, i've noticed some amazing screenies on the screenies thread and none of the games i have currently seem to have good enough graphics to warrant the upgrade in my sig so far :(
Not sure if i'll like BF2 or not.
Cheers,
Zeph

Oooh, this is gonna get firey :p

Try:
--Star Wars: Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcas - Fantastic Star Wars FPS / 3rd Person game
--Half-Life 2 (Maybe Half-Life 1 if you want to play what some regard as one of the greatest made games ever) but includes Counter-Strike: Source Download Demo via Steam
--FarCry
--Call of Duty + Call of Duty 2
--FEAR
--Quake 4

Half-Life 2 singleplayer is great, online play you have:

Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Counter-Strike: Source
Day of Defeat: Source (Not with standard retail, but you get it with GOTY Edition)
Plus endless amounts of multiplayer mods that will eventually be out over the next few years.

FEAR

Has some multiplayer, more singleplayer, not brilliant though I don't think.

Call of Duty 1 + 2

Both have quite good multiplayer communities, multiplayer is rated quite highly on both.

Quak 4

Very old-skool style deathmatch, not everybodys cup of tea these days, but it's good if you like very quick, fast paced fragging.

I should probably have had a look around a bit more carefully before posting this thread as after browsing the Half Life 2 site for 10 mins it looks right up my street :D

Dilemma.... there appears to be 3 different packages available for download and i cant decide between the Source Premier pack and the Valve complete pack (looks like it would be a huge download  ). Do you think the middle pack (premier pack) would suffice? here's what they include....

Premier pack

Counter-Strike: Source
Day of Defeat: Source
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
Half-Life: Source

Valve Complete pack

Counter-Strike
Counter-Strike: Condition Zero
Counter-Strike: Source
Day of Defeat
Day of Defeat: Source
Deathmatch Classic
Half-Life
Half-Life 2
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast
Half-Life: Blue Shift
Half-Life: Source
Opposing Force
Ricochet
Team Fortress Classic

Zephyrus, it depends on what you want from it, and how much you're willing to spend.

You'll get a hell of a lot of hours worth of gaming from the single player Half-Life. Let alone Blueshift and Opposing force, before you even touch on HL2.

It'll be around 6-8GB of downloading for the content, but you just download what you want, when you want with Steam anyway.

You don't need old versions of Counter-Strike, Day of Defeat, Half-Life
And just Opposing Force, Ricochet and Team Fortress Classic ain't worth the difference. Although I bought Complete Pack it's worth it only when USD/GBP exchange rate hits all time low.

Depends on if he wants to play the real Counter-Strike, not that silly thing they call Source ;)

For somebody new to FPS games, I'd say stick to Counter-Strike: Source, it's a bit easier and friendlier.

Though even Opposing Force, TFC, Blueshift, DMC and Ricochet, though less played, they're worth the $20 in my opinion.

No idea why it said 19000mb, im sure i'll find out what size of download it is when it finishes sometime next week as its only downloading at roughly 100kb/s :( Still, it looks worth the wait :)

*checks Steam*

Codename Gordon: 39MB
Condition Zero: 384MB
CS Deleted Scenes: 427MB
CS1.6: 265MB
CSS: 1584MB
Darwinia Demo: 18MB
DoD: 366MB
DM Classic: 41MB
HL2: 841MB
HL2: DM: 140MB
HL2: Lost Coast: 360MB
Ricochet: 13MB

Total of everything on Premier Pack:

Counter-Strike: Source - 1584MB
Day of Defeat: Source - 366MB
Half-Life 2 - 841MB
Half-Life 2: Deathmatch - 140MB
Half-Life 2: Lost Coast - 360MB
Half-Life: Source - ???

Total: 3291MB

Unless HL2: Source is 15709MB, I think they're probably wrong about the 19GB thing...

Remember that doesn't take into account the Source engine and other content, it's just stuff specific maps + models for those games.

You need to add another 2.5+GB for the true value.
