Hi all,

Im after a decent ultrabook.

Budget -£550
Want at least an i5 cpu
Intel HD gpu fine but nvidia would be a bonus.
Storage space not that important.

Screen size 13" but would go to 15
Dont require an optical drive

Just want something that looks nice and has some good power behind it.
Im looking at soo many i just cant decide on what to go for.

I've been looking at the Dell Outlet as I have £1000 burning a hole in my pocket. But it's difficult to know what's a deal or not. (My finger hasn't been on the pulse for a long time...)

I'm tempted to splurge half on a lappy and the other half on a new NAS. What exactly did you get for your cash?

i've been researching the new dell xps 15. on paper it looks amazing. reality is poor battery life, buggy trackpad issues and bad scaling due to the hi res screen.

The new samsung ativ book 9 2014 looks like a winner but no idea when it's due for release. it has lossless audio and a reported 12 hour battery life!

My spec:

XPS 14 - 14" screen @ (900p) True life infinity display
i5 -3337u (3M cache upto 2.7ghz)
8GB DDR3 (1600MHz)
500GB sata II HDD
32GB mSATA3 SSD
1GB Nvidia GT 630M
Windows 8 (64bit)

So a pretty good spec and the build quality of the xps range are great. For the price you cant do much better for build quality/spec

New one looks lovely but it's probably going to be £1200+ region. I just feel you could get more for your money with another system.

How the hell did you get yours so cheap?! Saw another XPS 14 for much more.

Not sure how much the others are as its the first time ive ever looked at that outlet site. All i remember is it was listed as £416 or similar and total amount with delivery was just over £500.
