Recommend me an upgrade!

For the last 6 years I been using my i5-2500k cpu, all going great, been looking at upgrading mainly for games, and looking at Oculus Rift. I updated the graphics card about 2 years ago to a Nvidia 970, but CPU is showing its age a bit. I like to stay with Intel, so all I need is a mobo, CPU, ram and maybe a aftermarket cooler. Looking to spend around £400

Most likely reaction you'll get here is to whack in a second hand i7 K chip for your board and gtx 1070
 
Ive got a 2500k, GTX 970, 16gb ram and a 250gb ssd. My machine runs everything I throw at it as 1080p but I’ve overclocked the cpu and gpu.

Given the distressingly high cost of gpus and cpus these days, a meaningful upgrade will cost around £700 - an outrageous amount of money but one retailers simply get away with
