Recommend me antivirus

I would definately go with NOD32 and Malwarebytes both compliment each other, have been using them for years, have never had a problem and they
A catch just about everything.
Also MSE is an excellent FREE A/V

I have tried them all, Norton, which I hated. Kaspersky, AVG, Avast, Macafee which is even worse.

The one that wins my vote however is Avast... it has a nice user interface, light on resources, updates nice and easy, I actually like the voice talking to me.

Macafee and Norton are by far the worst, both charge silly money and bloat everything.

With regards to anti-spyware, I believe Avast has the built in now aswell, don't hold me to that though and if running vista or 7... Windows defender isn't all that bad, not the greatest but it's already there so why not utilize it.

Avast free edition, works a treat, i got a 6 month trial of norton with my mobo, what an abomination, then they ask you to pay for it after 6 months, id rather pay to get herpes than that load of garbage tbh.:D

I noticed they all give you the antivirus free but cut out other internet security features like firewall, email scanner, web phising, browser protection, ect.. how critical is these extra features for safe surfing?

ive gone from
AVG(free)first 2-3 years
to
Avast(free)6 months
then back to
AVG(free) 1-2 years
and now using
MSE started 2-3 weeks ago

oh and yeah i have malwarbytes and spybot S&D and CCeaner(not really an AV)

I use Kaspersky Internet Security as you get it free with Barclays accounts. Interface can be a bit muddled at times though but generally not done me wrong.

Also used MSE which was very good, and my father inlaw has it on his pc and cant be happier.

To answer the OP's questions. Norton 360 is an all in one package - Firewall and Antivirus. 360 version 3 is miles away from how Norton used to be. It is not resource hungry, does not start processes up while you are busy doing things and you have a silent mode where you force it not to do any updates or scans for a set period of time.

I think most people commenting on how bad Norton is used older version which were to be honest horrendous. I was about to leave Norton when I noticed I could upgrade to Norton 360 version3 for free and thought I'd give them one last chance and I am glad I did.

I have used some of the free software but I find all the free firewalls I have tried to be so annoying that I just wanted to uninstall them. I can however recommend Norton 360 as a good solution.
