Hi everyone,

Haven't upgraded my computer for well over 2.5 years, and i've decided it needs upgrading.

Got a budget of around £400. Need the best combination of a cpu, motherboard and ram. Give me your best shot.

Thanks
Martin

well your issue is going to be your graphics card is AGP if i'm not mistaken, so really you need a new graphics card too.. with that in mind and only a tiny bit over your budget hows this:

Intel Core 2 Duo E8200 LGA775 'Wolfdale' 2.66GHz (1333FSB) - Retail £119.99
Asus P5Q Pro Intel P45 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard £91.99
Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4830 512MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI/HDMI (PCI-Express) - Retail (AX4830512MD3-H) £87.99
GeIL 4GB (2x2GB) PC2-6400C4 800MHz Black Dragon EVO ONE DDR2 Dual Channel Kit (GE24GB800C4DC) £59.99
Sub Total : £359.96
Shipping cost assumes delivery to UK Mainland with:
DHL @ Home Next Day (Delivered Mon-Fri)
(This can be changed during checkout) Shipping : £8.49
VAT is being charged at 15% VAT : £53.99
Total : £413.95

might want to add an after market cpu cool as well if you are going to overclock the cpu (which you should)

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I don't play games on the it. Do i really need the Powercolor ATI Radeon HD 4830 512MB?

Basically, i use a lot of office based and graphic applications. Would a cheaper graphics card make any difference?

Also, would a quad core be significantly better than duo?
