Recommend me some Legal Download sites for Music pls

Hi,

Ok i have both a Mac and a PC now and was thinking about using the Itunes store untill i found out all there songs etc are in acc format and I need the songs in mp3 to go on my portable player, pc etc. I know u can get around acc by putting them to disc then ripping them to ** pc/mac again but thats just a hassle i could do without.

So what sites are out there that have songs as mp3s, have a wide selection of music and won't cost me heaven and earth to buy/subscribe to??

Are there any site with like trials etc??

Thanks for any advice u have.

There are no legal stores which sell MP3s and have a wide selection of music.

If you just want a good selection of music, then look at Bleep.

eMusic seems to be getting a bit better in their selection.

$19.99 per month for 95 downloads and no DRM (VBR quality).

They're independent labels though and some aren't available to download from the UK.

This is a 100 free tracks trial link (30 days trial).*

*mods advise if this should be removed.

Now go download The Tain (EP) by The Decemberists... it's now my fave track! :)

Never used Napster, so don't know about their DRM, but apprently, they have agreements, with certain mp3 player companies which allow you to put them on your mp3 player.

Yeah, PlaysForSure. The thing is, Napster is subscription based. You stop paying a subscription, you lose your music. I personally would never agree to something like that.

Most online stores will sell low bitrate tracks, and wrap them in DRM so they will be a pain to use. It would be cheaper and infinitely more sense to buy the CD's 2nd hand and rip them yourself. Lots of music stores sells you 2nd CD's online now. The CD themselves are your backup when you leave your MP3 player on the bus. Buying CD's 2nd hand is just easier in the long run.

Agreed.
Much easier. No DRM, no poor bitrates. The world is your own :D

I have come to the same conclusion myself. :)

Jusr bought 3 Cds for £2.97 (£0.99p each).
