Recommend me software for opening a BIG file!

Hi guys

Could you recommend me some software that can open a whopping 680MB file please.

It's a Thunderbird file as I'm having trouble with my email and need to check it's all there.

Notepad won't do it.
Wordpad won't do it.
Word 2009 has a limit of 512MB
Open Office 3.1 Writer goes to open it and then disappears part way through

I just need some word processing software that can open this huge file so I can check all my mails are there before moving on.

maybe try notepad++? you might need to wait for a while for it to load the entire file but it could work

Can't you just load it in thunderbird as an archive and check?

Excel? random i know, but it does handle some rather large files

I did try loading the file in TBird but it just loaded the first email, I need to check at all the emails are still there...I'm not sure what you mean about loading it as an archive...have I missed something fundamental?

By Jimminy...Excel does load it amazingly...but again only the first email, not the whole lot unfortunately

I am looking into gVim and emacs now.

Thanks for the suggestions...please keep em coming in case what I'm trying now doesn't work...or even better if you know a way of displaying all the inbox files in TBird!
