Recommend me some 4k monitors...

I know there are a lot of these forum threads in this section...

I had a look through some open threads, but couldn't find one that matched what I was looking for.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some monitors.

I'm looking for a 4k monitor to act as a primary gaming screen for when I get a new GPU (and my other monitors will just be additional displays).

The only base things I'm looking for are:

- 4k (3840x2160 Resolution)
- 1ms Response Time
- Something better than 60hz refresh rate would be nice

I'm looking to spend between £250 and £600, the cheaper the better but I don't want to pay less and get bad image quality.

I had a look on the main site and was thinking something like this: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/aoc-...g-widescreen-led-monitor-black-mo-044-ao.html

Anyone got any recommendations for me?

OR... Is it worth waiting for 4k monitors to have 144hz refresh rate and maybe come down in price?

Wait. You won't get a good 4K gaming monitor for less than £500, and quite frankly 4K right now is not worth it at all. Go for 1440p with a minimum of 980Ti/1070.

Once 4K monitors come down in price, with DP1.3 as standard and 1 GPU can provide sufficient enough power for strong 60fps performance, then's the time to upgrade, but you're looking at about 12 months minimum wait.

Here below is a list of recommended 4K monitors...

:)

Wait, as suggested. Although be aware that 144hz panel you have probably seen at Computex is a prototype... no word on when that will be available or how much. Nevermind the fact that driving 4K anywhere near those frame rates for AAA titles is near impossible right now, just so you realise.

Out of curiosity, WHY do you want 4K? Do you believe it to be the 'best'? Have you seen it and fallen in love, having seen and ruled out the alternatives? What GPU(s) do you have or plan to get? I do see a lot of people falling over themselves for 4K, but many don't really seem to know why... they just want it because they perceive it to be the best.

The reason I want it is because I would like the best possible experience and I have the money to throw around at the moment.
Gaming is my only hobby, so why not have good equipment?

I'm planning on waiting for the Nvidia 1080ti. It seems logical that it will probably be the first card to push the limits high enough to warrant a 4k monitor that can do higher than 60hz.

Get 3440x1440 super wide, with gsync if you're nvidia or free sync if amd.

And there's no point lusting after higher than 60hz 4K monitors now really. There still isn't a card out to power high end 4K gaming at 60fps yet, and by the time there is things will have moved on again. Probably.
And regarding the 1080ti, I'll put money on it being able to just about maintain 60fps max at 4K, if it's lucky. High Hz / higher res and high fps top end gaming will still require 2 cards for a long time I reckon.
