please :D

Really enjoying "They're Only Chasing Safety" at the moment, and ordered the new album. Hope it's good...

I really like The Used's first album, but hate the second. What happened?

I've been buying tonnes of cheap CDs from the Marketplace on the big online retailer, but have been really hit and miss. Fire When Ready - "As the Sky Stared Down with Angry Clouds" was a good one. Got some crud that sounded like Fall Out Boy though... :( (The Academy Is - as recommended by Pandora)

He wants bands in the new wave of screamo and you recommend metal and pop-punk (HTL, OI)?! Are you all mentalists?

Refused he may like, but it's probably going to be a little under the production values he's expecting after Underoath (not in terms of quality, but in terms of the actual sound).

You probably want bands like Silverstein and Aiden but they're all shockingly bad.

Still Remains.
As I Lay Dying.
Avenged Sevenfold.

Moving more towards metal though.

Thanks, got all of them - really like A7F, still listening to Still Remains and As I lay Dying to work out how much I like them.

Hit the Lights.
Over It.

I really recommend you check out Anberlin, they're my favourite band and they just plain rule. :)

I like Refused - got a couple of albums. Not heard of Hit the Lights or Over It. Just recently downloaded some Anberlin, so I'll let you know.

Thanks for assuming my music tastes based on one band ;) :D

I actually like Silverstein..... :( Not sure about Aiden....

Hit up some more of the victory records bands, you might dig those...Bayside, Silverstein, Just Surrender, Taking back Sunday, the sleeping (just stay away from aiden)

On the note that they toured with underoath, try out dopamine, an amazing band from the welsh valleys, give FFAF and LP a run for their money anyday,

On the heavier side, get out every time I die, the bled, hopesfall

If you do like anberlin, try out anadivine, copeland (although slightly mellow in comparison)

Also try out the deep elm label, excluding fightstar, they have some more heavier new wave stuff (some freaky though) try, desert city soundtrack, brandtson, sounds like violence...and most definately benton falls

In terms of actual sound I agree that hit the lights are way over into pop punk than anything else but I just had those on my mind because when I first found out about underoath a couple of years ago these are some bands I discovered too. So here are some more cohesive correlations:

From First to Last
Alexisonfire
Senses Fail
Circle Takes the Square
Everytime I die.

edit: oh and my recommendation for anberlin wasnt really based on your liking for underoath, i was just saying it because they're just amazing, lol.

Thanks dude. I love Taking Back Sunday, althogh their latest album is a bit pop-rock...

I'll give the others a go.

I LOVE Alexisonfire! :D

Senses Fail are OK, although I have a feeling I deleted all the stuff I had of theirs :o

I'll give the others a go.

Forgot about alexisonfire...skip the first album though, just jump straight to watch out....youll thank me later lol

Agreed, although the first album isn't bad.

Sorry, but rather than start a new thread:

Was the change in The Used's sound because of a change of record labels?

Looks like their first album was on Reprise, the second on Warner...

THere is no "new wave of screamo" since they sound nothing at all like screamo.

The first Alexis album is the only one worth listening too.

Reprise is owned by Warner.

Arf. That's hilarious.

Old screamo: Orchid, Saetia, etc. Stuff that evolved from earlier emo and just took on a harder edge. New wave is much better produced and very commercial (hence it being a second wave, as they're so distinct from each other) as opposed to early stuff where vocals are so low in the mix when compared to the crashing guitars that you can barely tell what most of the words are.

Hardcore (split into that deriving from punk and metallic hardcore). Are you suggesting for one minute that they belong alongside bands like Sick Of It All, Champion, or stuff like Darkest Hour? If you are, I think you're a funny guy.

What a stupid comment.

Mate, I know what "old" screamo. One of my favourite bands are Circle Takes the Square. I don't think that Underoath are screamo. They sound nothing like screamo. That is my point. I thought I'd made that clear? There is no "new wave" of screamo because, put quite simply, the "old" screamo is still around and still being played. So tell me how Underoath sound anything like Saetia, Orchid, Pg. 99, Neil Perry, CTTS, I, Robot or The Kodan Armada or anything of that sort?

Who said anything about hardcore?
