Hi there

Being a long time since I played any games and right now my collection pretty much consist of Quake series, Command & Conquer series.

I am ideally looking for C&C style games, so overhead view, build a base, make troops and go take out the enemy base. :D

Recommend away and ideally looking for games I can download via steam/origin please.

Lastly is there any decent space combat games, I used to love Xwing vs Tie Fighter and the classic Wing Commander, are there any modern day equivalents?

Getting on a bit now but the best C&C style RTS' I've played in recent-ish years have been Dawn of War, and Age of Empires 3. Both are on Steam but rip-off prices outside of sales.

Maybe look at Company of Heroes 2 if you want something modern, I haven't played it but same developer as Dawn of War.

Can't help much on strategy front except to say try company of heroes if you missed it.

Space games... Apparently x - rebirth socks. But the X games on the whole are nothing like x vs tie.

Could always find a copy of freespace 2 and mod it.

Or maybe strike suit zero on steam. I bought it (but haven't touched it obviously. Who plays games any more?)

My recommendation if you haven't played them would be the warmhammer 40k dawn of war games (the first one rather than the second, the second one after but i still dont personally enjoy it as much as the first)

Company of heroes as well, not played the second one myself yet......even though ive had it installed for about 2 months >_<

Civ 5 if you're into that sort of thing (and have the time)

If you fancy some FPS then TF2 is always good for a laugh, you may have played it already but if you haven't i highly recommend it.

The walking dead games by telltale are a good story if you fancy a storyline to follow and get sucked into.

Sleeping dogs is a good GTA style game which a good story, a little repetitive in places but still fun to play.

.....that lot should keep you going :D

New CnC got canceled :/

'Cos it was rubbish. The testers hated it, and in the end even the devs admitted they didn't know what the hell it was supposed to be working towards.

It would have been another EA debacle like SimCity, with everyone asking WTF they'd done to the gameplay.

It's just a pity they didn't do the same thing for CnC4, that was dreadful :(

Hey Gibbo,

Welcome into the games sub forum :)

Starcraft you will have to get from Blizzard, you may get Battle for middle earth 2 on GMG, but not seen it in ages.

Did you like the original Total War series mate??

The older X series games are good, they are on Steam, but you are going to have to wait for Elite and Star Citizen for the best ones :)

Ow you may also wanna check out Anno 1404 and the newer one... I like them, still playing Anno 1404 at the moment :D

Company of Heroes is a good shout, as Pighardia mentioned above.

Also the Dawn of War series is good - but I'm not a fan of the latest games as they didn't involve any base building. My favourite of those still has to be "Dawn of War: Dark Crusade".

Cheers.
Warcraft III, StarCraft 2, Company of heroes seems a good start. :)

Another vote here for the original Company Of Heroes, fantastic game. The Campaign was almost non existent but hours of fun on skirmish.
