Hey guys,

Recently built a new rig actually capable of playing modern games and would like some suggestions of what to try out/buy.

I mainly enjoy FPS but open to alsorts really. New or Old.

Ive already got HL2, Farcry and Spore.

Turok - Whats it all about, any multiplayer?
Crysis - I was under the impression its 'pretty' but lacking in real decent gameplay. Am i wrong?

I already have COD4 & Bioshock on 360 is there any benefit playing it on a PC? Extra content etc.

GRiD looks awesome and its definately on my list, I only have wireless 360 controllers - is this a problem?

Turok is dead on the online side, but the SP is very good imo

Crysis, i was one of them who said it was rubbish, till i actually gave it a propper go and enjoyed it, shame its was buggy as hell tho

COD4 will be a lot better on PC, you'll be able to see the proper detail in it and online is always packed!

GRID to me is the best racing game to come out, the 360 pad is perfect for the game, just make sure you buy a wireless receiver so you can actually use the 360 pad (plus everyone uses the 360 pad thses days)
 
Get the new Crysis Warhead, its meant to be coded better to run smoother. Thats out today !!!
Bioshock is a very good game get that :)

Thinking of other genres, are there any decent fight pilot games out at the moment?

Im looking for games with a real decent community, TF2 seems very popular. Recommend?

I think everyone here and their mother will recommend TF2 :p

Wonderful game, always loads of people playing, easy to pick up, and people of all skill levels playing.

Crysis - just for fun factor
GRiD - amazing graphics and gameplay
Mass Effect - i didn't like it at all but i seem to be only one who doesn't like it
COD4 - you just need to get it, its the gaming law
F.E.A.R - an amazing game, probably best FPS ive played
Battlefield 2 - best online FPS to ever come out

bioshock is that good you should get it on your pc too :p
Theres not much difference except it looks a lot better on PC :D

Indeed, and it's cheap.

Hours of fun, a decent ocuk community (apart from those damn snipers :p), and constant updates with new content to the game.

You'd be a fool not to :)
 
TF2 / COD4 for online mulitplayer.
Crysis / Crysis Warhead for single player.
Dawn of War (& expansions) if you like RTS games
Far Cry 2 coming in October

Ive definately got enough to think about now, will try and get TF2 and join the 'ol OcUK lot.

PainKiller & Battle Out Of Hell

Nice change from the usual FPS in that, this one is purely a "Kill anything that moves, and if it doesnt move, shoot it till it does... Then kill it" type of game.

Purely a manic shoot fest and really refreshing from most others, but the first level is absolutely crap... After that, it just gets better and better.


Quake Wars : Enemy Territory
Im sorry, but this game is just far too hard for me.
It has a kind of BF2 look and feel for me, and BF2 is fairly hard, but QW:ET is just ridiculous. Best I have managed on that, is to get out of the helicopter ( or whatever Im in at the start ) run down the hill ( or sneak round/ through the buildings, makes no difference ) and get about 400 yards before biting bullets.
Kind of put me off.

COH & DOW ( And their family )

Oh hecks, I just cannot stop playing these... I have completed the entire lot, with every race and Im now working through it on hard for *** second time... Its very addictive for me.

Others to check out

FEAR / FEAR Perseus Mandate - Nice
Conflict Denied OPS - Not a bad game, didnt think Id like it, but I do!
Prey - Doom 3 with injuns and aliens
Area51 - More aliens
Area51 Blacksite - Even more aliens
 
Nerdiest game ever? Well yeah that's if you care about the story...I play it because i love exploring the world, i love questing with my mates, i love pvp, i love ganking southshore. I'ts the best game ever.
