Could do with some game recommendations as I've been out of the loop for quite a while and don't really know what's worth playing.

I grew up on the classic FPS games like Quake, Doom, Unreal Tournament, Duke 3D, etc... along with things like Diablo 2 and the Age of Empires series. Really liked those games and still play many of them.

Stopped PC gaming for a while and ended up with PS2/PS3, mainly playing the GTA series and NFS:U2, and more recently when it was released The Last of Us which was easily my favourite PS3 game along with Far Cry 3.

A few recent games I've tried are Skyrim which I couldn't get into at all, far too slow paced, on the other hand the new Doom is excellent, fast paced classic style FPS.
Also played War Thunder and CS:GO on casual mode, both are great for a quick game but I'm looking for something I can really get into, the problem is most games these days seem to be "open world" which would be fine but from my experience open world just means a cheap way of drawing out an otherwise linear game with boring side quests and crafting.
Path of Exile is another one, would rather just play Diablo 2 (D3 was rubbish).

Favorite PS3 game is Far Cry 3..

Does not like open world FPS with side missions and crafting :p

Anyways suggest grabbing Metro Redux games. I have seen the pack go for as low as a fiver - bargain

Haha I knew someone would notice that. That was my first modern open world type game, and at first I thought it was great because it was like nothing I'd played before, but then played FC4, and watched some reviews on other games and realised they're all very similar, it's all just padding for what is essentially a linear game, yeah there's an open world to explore but 99% of it is just a time wasing excercise. I'm not saying I would completely avoid open world games, just prefer a more linear game with an actual purpose rather than running round speaking to this person or finding an item and then running back to another person etc...

I suppose I find it hard to "get into" games these days, was glued to the computer 24/7 10-15 years ago but now I can play for half an hour and lose interest.
