Recommend me some kit please?

Got a helmet - HJC FG-17, black with green fleck on it.

I sold all my kit as I was never going to ride a motorbike again....

HOWEVER.. lol

Got old beat-up wolf Shadow leathers, Sidi Vertebrae boots, Swift Proffesional gloves. These are all 14 years old and have been down the road about 14 times! They look and fit like a pair of old work boots....

What's the in-thing at the moment?

Are Richa or TCX any good for boots and gloves?

Are RST any good for leathers? They used to be rubbish and I refused to use them to race in as stitching was poor they would split open.

Tell me please....

rst are tripe imo,going by the boots they make anyway,fell apart

wolf and dianese leathers are decent imo

I have RST, they have nice design ideas, but the quality is lacking.

TCX boots are pretty damn great, well, mine are anyway.

Another vote for TCX, got some Suede Gore-tex boots that are awesome.

I've ordered a couple of pairs of TCX boots and they seem great they're just too narrow for my porky feet

I have a pair of RST Tractech EVO Race gloves, they're pretty good. I've no experience of their boots etc though.

Dainese, Alpinestar and TCX are all serving me well.

Plenty of other good stuff like Furygan out there.

Good to see you getting back on btw, I remember reading about one of your massive off's - memory loss iirc. Has that come back?

Nope - still no recollection of it aside from the years of recovery! I got knocked off my pushbike other week by a car - that I remember and am still feeling the pain from! proper pain in the a**! I need to have refresher lesson first to see how I can ride on the road with my arm. I was cleared to race with it but that is a position that suits me and I'm trying to avoid riding like a nutter on the roads again...

Thanks for the recommendations all. Nice to know things haven't changed since I last raced. The bike I was looking at has been sold anyway - however I now scarily have enough money in my bank to buy one outright....

I have 2 pairs of Richa gloves, they're pretty cheap but I'm happy with them.

I've had the same Alpinestars SMX5 boots for 3 years now, other than showing some aging they work exactly as they did new, are still waterproof and I'm not intending on replacing them any time soon.

I had some Alpinestars summer shorty gloves but they palms wore through after about 18 months. They were, to be fair, summer gloves and quite flimsy to start with as a result.

My current Dainese shorty gloves are bloody awesome, 4-Stroke Evos. Very comfy once worn in.

I had a HJC helmet, did the job but felt a bit plasticy. Wear a Shoei now.

My trousers/jackets are leather/textile mix. Both Halvarssons. Absolutely love them, great bits of kit.

Full leather wise I would likely end up looking at Dainese or Alpinestars personally.
