Whoever said Bring Me The Horizon needs eliminating from the gene pool. And fast. They're an absolute embarrassment.

I would say bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Dragonforce are an embarrassment... each to there own and all that crap.

Justify Dragonforce being crap.....

they're not that bad, they're very fast guitarists (wouldn't say talented cos speed is definately not everything, actually, it's not even something). They're just quite generic, don't attempt anything new and a lot of their songs sound the same.

I still have their albums, got some pretty good guitar solos but they're incredibly generic

I'd agree with both of you and add Blessed By a Broken Heart.

I'm afraid I agree.. when I first saw Through The Fire And The Flames I was like "wow, gotta get their album " but it's a bit.. samey. I have Sonic Firestorm too, only played it once as it sounds the same as the rest of their stuff.

As for A7X (sounds like a motherboard :p), can't stand them. Before I had heard any of their stuff I read a review that said "they are the new Dream Theater, miss them at your peril!" so I promptly kept a look out on Scuzz.. man was I disappointed :( Just another bunch of makeup wearers peddling the same old carp. Synyster Gates is a good guitarist but he's a bit of a kn0b?

Hes not even a good guitarist. I seen A7X live in Manchester and he did like this 3 minute solo thing just one his own. Was sloppy as hell. He's poor, man.

Some already said but:

Opeth
Converge
Dillinger Escape Plan
Poison The Well
Mnemic
Mastodon
Sepultura (when Max was singer)
Pantera
Slayer
Machine Head (ignore the whole Supercharger incident IMO)
Deftones
Downset
Helmet
Biohazard

I've not really heard his stuff, I just assumed that because he had a regular column in a popular guitar mag he must be okay :p

Schecter guitars, not so keen on them meself..

Another one of these threads.
Listen mate, throw all your cd's in the bin, go out and buy some slayer, problem sorted.
Reign In Blood turned up to 11 will completely satiate your metal desires..

Ok in addition to all the bands mentioned so far i'd highly recommend Shadows Fall, both The War Within and The Art of Balance are fantastic albums that any meatl fan should own.

I bought the art of balance and was dissappointed.

I'm sure some of them will have been mentioned before so sorry.
Also some of it might be hardcore and not metal. Whatever.

(+1 to the 'we hate bring me the horizon' crew also)

There should be a new music category called 'Roadrunner'. Why don't you do a search by record label, just find some more bands on Roadrunner, you'll probably like...

Youtube, Through the Fire and the flames live at Graspop.
I Can't link, as it contains swearing, but it really shows how bad they can be live.

Sam should remember to tune his guitar before he goes on stage.

Hahaha. Everyone always says OLD Caliban. I don't like them, but I always find that funny. CBK are skill though.

It's just heavier that's all.
The new stuff would seem kinda weak compared to the other suggestions I thought :)

I'd like to suggest the best band in the world Pitchshifter :D

 I accidentally put the samples off the end of www. on a mix CD I took to Reading, quite confusing when they came on... Anyone with even a passing interest in metal, rock, or even hard techno should own www.pitchshifter.com...

Machine Head and Sepultura for "proper metal", Fear Factory and Pitchshifter for metal with electronica edge, Dub War and Skindred for welsh dub reggae metal. You need no more :)
