Hey,

Hopefully the weather will get better soon,Well at least stay dry for a few days.
Anyone can recommend some products for cleaning up the paintwork on a recently purchased E320 CDI Sport.

Im definitely going to clay the car,Is "Meguiars Quik Clay Starter Kit" any good?

Also what the car really needs is some decent wax or something that will make the rain run off it,As it just all sits on there.

I want to do it all myself,But unsure which products are really worth buying. ;)

appreciate any suggestions.

Collinite 845 wax, or a combo of Autoglym Super Resin Polish and Extra Gloss Protection if you want to hide some paint imperfections.

The Megs clay you are talking about works just fine but is quite expensive, really. Just grab some Bilt Hamber Medium clay and use spray water or spray soapy water to lubricate it. Mitt is re-usable and I didnt enjoy mine whilst I had it, but when it came to replace it I went back to normal clay, I find its slightly slower but removes more contaminants. If you do re-use the mitt, just make sure you wash it well before use (and during!!).

Finally, have a look in the thread tinders linked, there's heaps of info and product reviews in there.

I used some cheap Simoniz Protection Wax on my new car yesterday, seems to have worked great as the beading was lovely this morning after it rained last night.

£7 from Halfords for 500ml, but it isn't on the website so must be EoL.

g3 Clay Mitt
G3 quick detailer
Megs gold Shampoo, AG Shampoo or Muc off!
AG SRP
AG EGP
Megs NXT Techwax 2.0

If a black car
Poor Boys Natty's paste Wax
poor Boys Black Hole Glaze

A tube of autosol
A bottle of AG Bumper + Trim gel

I buy bulk bags of microfibres from Costco
For Pads I use the G3 waffle applicators
Use standard noodle mits

Recently tried the Muc Off! shampoo, seemed pretty damn good at getting everything off :) It came with some form of micro cullulose vacuum packed sponge, I've not had a chance to give that a bash yet tho.

At first I wasnt too fussed with the quick detailer, the clay mitt works justa s well with water. But for a quick wash a quick run over wiht the quick detailer makes the car look so much better :) I gather the BSD detailer is meant to be good so will be trying that one next

Well used the sponge last night, very good, holds the subds well and a nice flat surface to it too, fairly solid.

I also used the Muc Off alloy cleaner for the first time and it brought the wheels up a treat. removed some matke I thought were gonna be permanent too.

So I tried it on my exhaust, I've fitted a Jetex with dual SS tips.
They were pretty much matt black with crap caked on, not been cleaned properly since it was installed. Let this stuff sit for about 15mins or so then wiped off with a MF cloth.

After seeing so many people on here and other forums saying how they detest the time wasted scrubbing I was dreading it. Wow I think it's safe to say I can set the cloth on fire but the tips look immense

Then what will they say,Read through all the posts.. :p

appreciate all the replies chaps,Already started fixing up the car to make it look like new again, its had some brand new fog lamps as the old were full of water and looked horrible.

Theres some patches around the car on the paintwork, that i hope scratch remover or at least the clay bar will hide.

Not sure what the hell the previous owner put on it.
