Recommend me some tires

Federal SS595 RSRs would be worth a look too :).

Ive heard right horror stories about those, they caught my eye as they particular market the steel sidewall and how stiff they are but guys on MLR have literally had the tyre fall apart on them as if they were faulty, yet it happened too quite a few which says they could be a risky bet, or not suited to anything with real power.

Are we talking about the 'motorsport' RSRs or the 'el-cheapo' SSs? For those who don't know they are Two incredibility different tyres which two incredibility similar names :p.

The people I know of who run RSRs have stuck them on moderately powerful (350BHP+) RWD cars that are driven hard on track and they all praise the Feds incredibility highly.

Also head a similar thing from someone racing a DC2, the Federal tyre was actually preferred over the 888.

Apparently they are as good/better than 888s in the dry, are better in standing water, have better wear rates AND cost a chuck less. Sounds like a bit of a win to me :).

Good spot, yeah I was referring to the cheap SS ones.

They are bordering on obscenely cheap when you have a look that the price list for R888s

It is a shame that supply went all wonky. I couldn't find any wide enough 17s for my car I was 'forced' to buy some Kumhos to tide me over. They'll be my next tyre for sure (even if it means to moving up to 18s )

I've just had a set of R888s fitted to my car to see what they're like as the price of them and the AD08s I had on had basically met and are now virtually identical - £155 vs £162 (I think you'll be surprised at how much they've rocketed up Gibbo! Although still a brilliant tyre, not the bargain they once were :().

It's nice to read people's reports of what they've found and to get a general idea of what they're like, but I also read them with an air of skepticism of how they might be trying to justify why tyre x is as good as/better than tyre y, especially when money is concerned. Also when all cars behave differently it muddies the water even more. So I'm quite looking forward to see how I personally think the 888 performs - using it as my normal road tyre too so next time it rains heavily look out for a megane shaped hole in the bushes :p
