Hey all,

Basically, I want to record the same sound that I hear out of my speakers (ie. I want to save the data that's being sent to them for later playing) and then be able to save it as an MP3. Now I have an M-audio Audiophile 2496 (I think that's the number) and Goldwave too, but I can't seem to get it to do that (yeah, it's very possible I have it set up wrong :o ).

Any suggestions much appreciated. :)

To record anything that you hear:
Start playing a song in say winamp:
Open up goldwave,go into `options` or `preferences`(wherever)
set recording device to `Mixer in delta ap1`
press record in goldwave (which should monitor it,not record straight away)
if you see mixer record in level dancing, you`re in business.

It`ll record in wav format, once you have it recorded in then you can encode it to mp3(if goldwave has that option),or you could use `audiograbber free`,great app for ripping and encoding mp3s from wav.Just remember to grab the lame encoder from the site and pop it into same directory as ag.

just set your "recording" volume control to "what you hear"
and any recorder program should be ok ... did you get one with you sound card software ?
maybe you have a setting for full duplex ? on off ?(record and play)
i would have thought your card is capable though

The phile has its own mixer in taskbar so windows mixer isn`t there, and theres no option in philes mixer for `what u hear` anyway, you have to set `mixer in` in whatever app you are using to record.
My old soundcard worked the other way, must be the philes way of doing things.
You get it working alright peter?
