Here is what I have. I have three ethernet ports on my computer. Two on board and one NIC.

All I need is to create three virtual machines on my PC to run simultaniously, and that will be assigned to individual ethernet ports.
As in, one ethernet port for each virtual machine.

All I want to do is run HyperTerminal on each machine and that's it.

What software can do this?

Thanks :)

use vmware server without a doubt.

http://www.vmware.com/products/server/

it's free as well....

oh and you use virtual hardware within the settings, not physical cards already in your pc. you assign ip addresses just as you would to a real pc - via dhcp or manually when you've installed windows in the virtual machine. it really is a doddle. :)

microsoft virtual pc. great bit of kit. vmware is the only other good one as far as i know.

Im planning on installing VMWare on one of my Win 2003 servers. Will it work if i was to put linux on there too?

My win 2003 box has some pretty important stuff on it so i dont want it to die.

The linux OS needs to be accessible from other machines as its going to act as a proxy. Would this work ok still?

cheers

You could run a virtual instance of linux, yes.

Yes, it can be accessible just like a normal server would.
