At the moment I have a 3Com Etherlink 3C905-B PCI card for connecting to my router. However, 3Com are not developing Vista drivers for their products so it won't work.

I need a replacement (preferably cheap as chips) that works with Vista. There is no onboard LAN on my mobo. Can anyone recommend something? I can't find an official Vista HCL.

have you actually tried it? a lot of machines have that card and i'd be surprised if the drivers weren't builtin to vista. :)

I have indeed my good man. And it comes up as unknown ethernet controller or something similar. There are no 3Com entries in the supplied driver list either. Explorations on the web reveal 3Com haven't updated the Etherlink drivers since 2002.

Have the same 3Com Bit slow off the mark with their drivers.
So anyone using Vista with a card which one is it?
So which Nic should we buy!!!

I've tried the XP drivers on a 3C905-BTX.
Works fine with full throughput, no errors etc.

Might be worth giving it a go first.

Really? Can you point me in the direction of the drivers, please? I'm willing to trash my XP (again) to give it a whirl.

Cheers. Going to try an upgrade of this XP installation and see if keeps the native XP drivers and if not use those ones.

EDIT: Just finished an in-place upgrade and lo-and-behold it has kept the 3Com drivers from XP. So I am now in Vista!
