Well my second XFX 5970 BE is broken so im gonna ask for a refund which will leave me with some money. My budget is £480 i think ive narrowed it down to this card:

EVGA GeForce GTX 480 SuperClocked 1536MB

Never had a EVGA brand but hear there pretty good.
Will i notice a performance drop compared to my last cardor will i still be able to play any game with max settings with no stutter.

The extra memory might come in handy if playing at high res. You also avoid the niggles that dual gpu can sometimes bring, it is the best currently available single gpu card.

If I was limited to buy Nvidia and if I had £480 burning a hole in my back pocket I would get 2x Zotec GTX470’s which comes to exactly £480. The GTX480 are seriously bad value for money. Only 8% quicker then the Radeon HD5870’s, eats electric like James Corden eats KFC which means lots of heat and a loud fan (supplied by Delta!).

At least with the two GTX470 you will be getting better performance then a single HD5970 so in that regard you will be getting an upgrade. The only thing you will need to do is double check your PSU can cope with two of these of cards in SLI.
