So I'm looking at build a Steam Machine type system so will be running SteamOS or Bazzite. Currently will only have a Ryzen 5 3600 CPU (But will look to upgrade at a later date), single M.2ssd, maybe additional SSD, a RX 6700 XT all on a Micro ITX board.

What watt PSU should I be looking at, trying to build this on a budget so don't want to go excessive on the PSU and just get what I need.

A 650W would be ample for that build, but it might become a limiting factor for future upgrades if you plan on any.

My basket at OcUK:

Total: £51.98 (includes delivery: £3.99)

The MSI B650BN is a good budget PSU that reviews well, I've used one before myself and it's a popular choice for low cost builds.

It might not fit in an ITX build however, it really depends on your case choice. You might be better off opting for M-ATX as a middle ground.

Thanks I'll check it out.

Yeah, I may need a smaller PSU. Then obviously they become more expensive

Edit: I was looking at the,

DeepCool CH170 Digital WH SFF Case

Which apparently supports ATX PSU as long as the GPU isn't too large

230mm with a full AXT PSU, that seems very limiting to me, I'd definitely go for an SFX or SFX-L PSU - although those are obviously much more expensive. (reference 6700XT is 267mm)

Even then it's 305mm, which would limit you for some cards for future upgrades.

Do you already have the 6700XT? - If not then there may be other cards for around the same money that would be a better bet.

Are you really attached to that case design? - Personally I think this is better looking and supports 280mm GPU and full ATX PSU at the same time (also pretty good price on ocuk currently)

Manufacturer page in Russian, but shows how it fits together: (found English page after :P )

For a small build i would get a SFX PSU for the shorter cables.

You may be able to fit a full sized PSU but then you have to find a way to cram the longer cables into the case.

No I don't have the RX6700 yet but will need to be AMD because of SteamOS/Bazzite.

Not attached to that case, just after a case that will be a similar size to what the Steam machine will be so it will fit into my entertainment centre (I currently have a Xbox Series X on there with room to spare)

Yeah I agree but there like 2-3 times as much money as an atx one

Would that be taking the place of the XSX, or keeping both?

You're not going to find a case of any form factor that's as small as the Steam Machine, they're absolutely tiny.

A compromise needs to be made somewhere, whether that is paying extra for an SFX PSU, a smaller card (I'm guessing you're looking for a second hand 6700XT, there are 9060XT (16GB) in the 200mm range, but they're £350+), or a case with a slightly bigger footprint.

If the main focus is budget then I'd probably opt for the latter. (the case I linked it 2 inches wider and an inch deeper than the deepcool)

Edit: Powercolor 6700XT fighter is 228mm if you can find one of those, there may be others that will fit
