Recommend some games

Hi,

Got a friend whos looking to start pc gaming. He hasnt really played many games before, but did like medal of honour when he played it somewhere. His pc is only:

E4300
2gig ram
Integrated Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 3000

Any recommendations for something which will run on that?

Can he not afford £30-50 for a way better card? Would make PC gaming a lot better.

7600gs/gt would be fine for playing them games, even a 7300gt would be ok.

Actually a X1650XT (XT not pro) is slightly faster than a 7600gt in a lot of things, so i would go with that for £58.

if you can stetch to the ati 1950pro at £70, from what people are saying its a great card and especially at that price.

I'd recommend any of the classic first person shooters. Maybe a steam account is a good starting place with Half Life, which like for so many will lead your friend down the shooter route. Other options are any of the classic strategy games or even better Diablo 2.

the 1950 pro needs a hefty 12v rail psu i got random crashes restarts
and im on corsair 520hx this card needs 30a on the 12v rail minimum i would say.

I've been gaming for years & have tried most, the two must have games in my opinion are BF2 & RFactor. I've recently got Medieval II Total war as well which is another Massive game with loads of potential.

his machine is a prebuilt, so i dont think it will run a 1950

Get one of the 7600's & clock the nuts out of it for him. I've seen some Amazing clocks with the right version of the 7600.

Return to Castle Wolfenstein should run ok on integrated graphics (or at least ET ran acceptably on my work machine with integrated) as long as the resolution and details are tweaked accordingly.

EDIT - Quake 2 will certainly run fine, along with a load of old school shooters

Friend of mine has the x1650 and he thinks its awesome. Plays all the classic first person shooters i.e. COD 2, HL 2 and MOHAA. I might sell him him my gfx
when Bioshock comes out so he can enjoy that too

Make sure it actually has a gfx card slot.
