I'm looking to improve my diet a bit, and lose a bit of weight as well as reducing food waste. Thus I want to start planning meals out instead of just sort-of-buying stuff I eat regularly and figuring it out as I go along. I'd like to work out a rough calorie count as I go based on which ingredients I'm using, amounts, and how they're being prepared.

Google tells me there's roughly a billion different apps and websites out there to do this and I have roughly zero idea how best to pick one. Anyone here using/used one they can recommend?

As the others have said. The free version is good enough for just counting calories and is great for count as it lets you scan barcodes of items, set the portion and even combine it to set up certain meals so you can save it for later.

I got really into it and have been using the premium version for a few of the extra features.

Nutra check calorie counter is awesome. Has so many foods and meals from supermarkets and takeaways etc. Hard to find a particular food not on there. You can also save meals using multiple products to add quickly when you have them again.

It’s much more user friendly than my fitness pal for adding foods.
