Next week im getting some money through, so looking to upgrade from my old 8800gtx. Now I sort of have my heart set on a 7850, I mainly play on MMO's but would like the option to play some FPS games, so my budget is about £200. But there is so many brands that its a little confusing on which to go with.

From researching a little Sapphire seems to be a good way to go, I was also interested in the gigabyte one, but there are people complaining of weird noises coming from theirs.

Also would it be worth waiting for the 660's? should they be in my budget and would the performance blow the 7850's out of the way?

The GPU in question would be coupled with a 2500k, 8gb ram and a 750w xfx PSU.

no one knows how the 660 would perform like, some are guessing that it's set to come out at around 240 quid, competing with the 7870 (rather than the 7850)
but for 190quid the sapphire is a good deal. the 7850 usually overclocks to around the same performance as a stock 7870 anyway

at this rate the gtx660 would be fighting with the 7950 lol...i can see who's gonna win that battle
o well competition is good for the consumers, especially this generation's gpus that have massively inflated pricing

if you dont manage to get the 7950 at that price then dont worry as the 7850 is a gem! i have the sapphire 7850 and i would buy it again in a heart beat if the pricing of the 7950 went back up

Yeah it would be nice to get a 7950 if possible. But the again I can always crossfire 2 7850's if it comes to it in the future.

i would wait few weeks more and get hd 7870,there were on overclockers for 220£ gig one not long ago, with gtx 660 coming out in few weeks time.
hd 7870 are going for 299$ in us,so there will be more good deals soon.
239,99£ you could have 7950 last weekend on overclockers website

Here's a few benchmarks comparing the stock clocked HD 7850 to an overclocked one:

Radeon HD 7850 Overclocked ( 1235/5700mhz ) vs. Stock - DiRT 3
Stock Average FPS = 61.25
Overclocked Average FPS = 83.67

Radeon HD 7850 Overclocked ( 1235/5700mhz ) vs. Stock - 3DMark 11
Stock Performance Preset Score = 5425
Overclocked Performance Preset Score = 6914
Highest Ever Achieved at 1245/5800mhz ( Not in video ) = 7,103

Radeon HD 7850 Overclocked ( 1238/5800mhz ) vs. Stock - Unigine Heaven

Stock Average FPS = 44.7
Overclocked Average FPS = 60.1

At this overclock, it's on par with a stock GTX 580 and HD 7950.

That 7950 is definitely a great deal from OCUK, especially as not every HD 7850 is a good overclocker. I would get that myself in your situation.

Then again, waiting til August with the GTX 660 is also sensible as its bound to shake prices up a bit.
