The WI-FI connection on my PC is erratic and unreliable. When booting into Windows it takes a while for it to connect to the downstairs router and when it does it can be either fast or really slow and with a high ping. When it's slow the only way I can get to work normally is to physically remove the device from the back of the computer and put it back and in and test the connection, some times like right before I posted this can take 3 or 4 goes to fix it. I'm currently the following USB device from TP-Link:

I have laptop, tablet and phones that all use the same connection and none of those experience these issues so I'm pretty sure it's the crappy dongle that's the issue. Can anyone recommend me a solid and reliable WI-FI PCI-E or USB device. Not to worried about what it costs I just need something dependable.

Thank you.

Thought about it but due to the layout of my house it would a pain to hide the cable.
Is drilling to the exterior an option?

If not they are surprisingly easy to route inside, just watch a few Youtube videos for ideas.

Or if you have satellite points dotted around the place you can get MoCA adaptors.

Want to also suggest MoCA - I recently suggested it for my brother who is able to get 850 Mb using it on a 900 Mb connection, only losing 60 Mb compared to plugging into the router.

It uses your TV aerial and works well :-)

Are you sure it's not related to the location of your PC? Are the other devices solid if tried where your PC is?
